24 hour shopping in Brittain

So there is something up with the shopping in England. Unless you're in a touristy area, stuff closes at 5:30. On Sunday, stores only open from noon to 5. Good luck going to the bank on a Saturday. And they don't have supermarket branches. I'm not sure I've ever seen a drive-through McD/pharmacy/coffee hut/ammo store.
However, I have seen on my way out of London to the airport, a 24 hour Tesco supermarket. Heavens to Betsy. Shopping at 3am! However, being that it's on the outskirts of London, it would take a taxi or a long, convoluted bus ride to get my fix of late night shampoo browsing. Not going to happen.
All this changed on Tuesday, when my flatmate (the other one) got a car. We went to TESCO last night. At 9:30pm.
I'm not sure what my point is here. I'm just really excited by the idea of being able to go to a new supermarket at any time of day or night. It's next to a Toys R Us.
