USA! USA! USA!

Yesterday, Tessa became an American citizen.
The ceremony took place at the Paramount theater and 1300 people were sworn in from 130 countries. Regardless of our relationship with America and "Americaness", it was really nice to be reminded that so many people want to be here, that it's their dream come true to be one of us.

Vaccinated!

Last week, I got my third Gardasil 9 shot, which means that I am immunized from nine strains of HPV.
While the medical establishment seems to think that anyone over 26 is a diseased ho bag , I got tested for every strain of HPV that they can test for and I was clear. This may still mean that I have had HPV of some sort and cleared it from my body but the nurse said that there is no risk from getting the immunization and the benefits of being protected from the other strains were worth it for me.
I think that if you can afford to get it, you should. If you have leftover FSA money in your account, it is tax free.

Brewing again

I've just ordered a new alcohol/specific gravity meter so i am brewing up a fresh batch of juiceahol today. Trying something new: putting the yeast in warm water before adding to the juice.
Today's flavor: 100% juice grape. 29 grams of sugar per 8 oz serving!
I'm using up an old packet of champagne yeast and I'm not sure how that'll affect things. 1/4 tsp

Flip phones are alive!

On the bus I just saw two old people receive calls on their flip phones! I haven't seen those in years!
