For those who are wondering, no, it's not just a bunch of hippies. There were also a lot of new age travelers.
It's kind of a pain in the ass to get there (it really is in the middle of nowhere). You have to take the tube to Waterloo, then take a train to Salisbury (I thought about having a steak while I was there), and then a special solstice express bus to Stonehenge. Then had to do the whole thing over this morning and scoot off to work.
It was pretty fun. I met some some nice people. It was clear all night up until about 3 or 4 in the morning. Unfortunately, it was cloudy and overcast when the sun actually came up, so there wasn't that whole dramatic sun through the stones thing.
I feel kind of bad for the druids. I'm not sure what kinds of rituals are involved in the solstice, but this was basically a big party. I don't see how there was any room or peace for the druids to do their thing. They were basically kicked out of their own temple :(
