This is good news :) I'm not sure if this is because more people have been empowered to make a living and provide for their families or if it's because the richer countries have been giving more aid...
This aside, I'm really impressed that the survey people were able to put together such a large scale survey. I mean, really. Good job.

Did I mention I went to Body Worlds last weekend? It was amazing.

Last night to celebrate the Winter Solstice (yay) I went to the Oakland Columbarium, quite possibly one of the most spectacular structures I have visited in California. What the heck is a columbarium? Good question. It's like a mausoleum, but everyone is cremated and put into books which are put into glass cases. I know this sounds crazy and morbid, but it's really, really spectacular. Check out the pictures on their website.
So what does a columbarium have to do with the winter solstice? Huh. Good question. Well, there were people playing cool instruments. There was this African guy who had this harp/gourd/guitar thing that played the most beautiful music that sounded like wind. It looks kind of like this. I asked the guy, Mamadou Sidibe, what his instrument was called and I thought it sounded like it started with an M, I was obviously wrong. I still can't tell you why the music + columbarium + solstice, but it was very cool and I'm very glad to have gone.
