I stayed home from work today so I decided to cook. George got me a box of Truly Texax Chili seasoning when he went to Texas. I brought it with me to England, knowing that I'd want some tex mex flavor at some point. Today seemed like a good day.
I went to Waitrose in search of ground turkey (none) so I got Quorn mince instead. It appears to be the English version of MorningStar crumbles, which is their faux ground beef product and truly excellent.
I also needed pinto beans. For a country that loves to eat beans, pinto beans were surprisingly hard to come by. Waitrose only carried this wanky black can of organic pinto beans. They were not cheap, especially for beans.
It turned out alright. I don't think this Quorn stuff is as good as MorningStar. The whole thing just lacked a certain flavor...I guess it's meat. But I've had good veggie chilis before. Maybe it was garlic. I don't know.

The English loves their baked beans right? The good people at Heinz have made them a limited edition of Lee & Perrins Worcestershire sauce flavored beanz.
