Okay, so the show last night...
Tickets came in on time afterall - which was before noon. The slackers in the mailroom were just sitting on it and weren't intending on giving me my mail until today. People send things overnight for a reason. Rrr.
So yeah, now I had three tickets - the one I'd bought for myself, and the pair that I got when A told me he wanted to go. And Robbie from the band said he would comp me tickets for Rennie Lum +1. So now I potentially had 5 tickets for 2 people.
I met up with A at the Defectors Weld near the venue where I had a Fruli (yay). We discussed my dilemma: selling my extra tickets. But first, I should go and pick up my comped tickets, just to make sure they existed. The catch was that I couldn't go in to check and then come out. Once I got my comped tickets, I was in for good. So now new dilemma: sell all three and hope my comped tickets were there, or sell the one, and have the two tickets for insurance? What do you think I did? Be safe or go for the money?
I went for the money. I feel kind of bad - I sold them to the touts. The scalpers here are called "touts" and they were everywhere, looking to both buy and sell tickets. I tried to find normal people who actually wanted to go to the show to sell them to, but I didn't know how to spot them. The touts always got to them first. So in the end I had to sell them to the profiteers. The pair I sold at £5 below my buying price (that's okay, if I can get in for free, paying £5 for a pair is pretty good right?), and I broke even with the single ticket.
So now it was time to see if I totally screwed up my night or if I had scored free tickets to the show. I walk into the venue and go to the window. "Hello, I have comped tickets for Rennie - R-E-N-N-I-E." The chick looks over her list...and passes me two tickets and two VIP passes!
Dude. Awesome. I am very important and feel super, super cool. Show was good, and we had seats. I don't remember the last time I went to a concert with seats. But it was good - I must be getting old.
Sadly, the VIP privilege after the show was simply access to some bar and the band didn't even show. And there were no free drinks. Or anything. This was definitely not as good as the VIP room at the Gnarls Barkley show.
Also, there was more talk. Ugh. I am so sick of talk. I think we have come to an agreement though. And I'm satisfied.
SF pillow fight today. I'm totally gutted I have to miss it :(
