Yay! Another fabulous weekend in Londontown.
On Saturday I met up with some people I met at Jess' fire station party last weekend. Sam had contacted me earlier in the week to let me know that Josh was having a 90s raver themed party. But first, we (along with Ben, who gave me a ride home last week, and Adam, also at the party) went on a field trip. A gallery in the Sloane Square area has an exhibit of Hunter H. Thompson's photos so we met up there. It wasn't a huge exhibit, but it was pretty cool. Some of the pictures were quite lovely.
Afterwards, we went and got burritos in soho. There's this place called Beach Cafe and it's on the porn store street. I got a chicken burrito. While I was extremely grateful to have been eating a burrito, but I can't say that it was a great burrito. The cheese was not melted, they didn't have black beans, and the distribution was all lopsided. And no salsa bar. Nor Cholula. The salsa fresca's tomatoes were mushy. But it was still a burrito and I am grateful for that. :)
Next, to Camden for some partywear. Costumes are called "fancy dress" here (don't know why) so we went to a fancy dress store. We also hit up the markets and CYBERDOG! Yay! I will never get sick of Cyberdog. The guys bought tie dyed shirts, silly happy face crap, hats, weird gloves, neon wristbands and all this other stuff but I was too cheap. I just couldn't bring myself to buy all this ridiculous (albeit fun) party stuff.
We all went to Sam's house after that and luckily, he had a few costume boxes from which I was able to cobble together a decent outfit. Furry vest, furry pink beanie and furry gloves - a look Ben decided was "MoonTribe".
So anyway, we went to the party. Great party. It was a little slow at first but definitely picked up. As I had done mdma last Saturday *and* Tuesday (with unhappy results on Thursday), I decided not to have any more. I settled for a night of nursing my bottle of white wine when it was made known that k was available. I had seen someone have a BAD experience on k several years ago so it was not something that I had ever considered trying. However, I was convinced (by people whose drug expertise I trust) to try just a bit and that it would be over in 45 minutes anyway.
It was great. I'm sold. It basically feels like you are extremely drunk, but without having to drink all that yucky alcohol. I did have the better part of a bottle of wine, but I'm sure that the feeling went beyond that. Plus no hangover the next day. Brilliant. What do horses take when they're depressed? Sign me up.
The night ended well at around 7am. And the next day began well at around 3:30pm. No hangovers. Since I was already in Bethnal Green, I rang up A to get some breakfast near his house. Yum; I love (veggie) English breakfasts. Beans, scrambled eggs, hash browns, bubble, mushrooms, toast and coffee. What could be better?
I spent a lovely evening with A, listened to some great music, cuddled, yay.
My Burning Man tickets came in today! Graham visited the SF off and brought back a bunch of stuff back for me, including these babies. So we're set! Burn!
