Bah. Lost my Oyster card. Crap crap crap crap crap.
Last night was awesome though! Dan told me that the Foreign Beggars was the London hip hop show to see. Cool. I'm not a big hip hopper (coulda fooled you huh?), but it was a chance to see Dan, some insight into his scene, and possibly discover some good music.
Somehow I convinced Doodle to come along too (it was probably the almost-certain chance of getting some).
But first, to the pub! After some prodding I discover that he is one of these east-end living "new media tossers" that Ben warned me about. In otherwords, if this were San Francisco, he would be a hipster in the Mission. However, no skin-tight jeans, no white, studded belt, no mullet, and little pretentiousness that I can tell. So one of the cooler hipsters. But he would still go to Zeitgeist and shop at Trader Joe's.
After several beers (three I think), we meet up with Dan at around 10. He brought some of his friends, including Darren, who I met once before, and one of his burning man friends.
I've been trying to convince Doodle for some time that he needs to go to Burning Man. He seems to think that it's just another music festival. Like Glastonbury. Anyway, I was glad for this chance for him and Dan to meet, since Dan has been to both Glastonbury and Burning Man and can tell him that Burning Man is like nothing else in the world. I think that did it. Awesome.
Anyway, the show was good - I think; I had another two beers here, at least. It was a little slow at first, but warmed up. There was a beat boxer (London's premier beat boxer I believe) called Shlomo. He's definitely no Rahzel and he uses a looping machine! What the???
But the headliners - Foreign Beggars - were great. Really good energy, good times. Definitely worth my 8 squid.
To top it all off, Dan drove me home! In a car! And I got to sit in the front passenger seat! It's on the left!
And then sexy time! It's niiiice!
I hate that when I go out, I come home smelling of fags. I love saying that I smell of fags. :D
