This weekend was sunny. It was warm enough to wear a one-shoulder top and that did a lot of good for me. My hair was very red in the sun. The world was my oyster. Kate had a BBQ this Saturday at her new place in East Croydon. It's a nice place.
This Saturday was also Zero's cabaret so I took the train down to Brighton. It took place at this bar called the Hare & Hounds (a very pubby name). There was singing, there was strip dancing, there was baton twirling and there was a staple gun. In order to raise money for their Nowhere camp, Zero had a fiver (and subsequently a tenner) stapled to his back on the condition that a glass was filled with enough change to make up for the fiver/tenner. And then he did it to his wife. Like he said, try explaining this in divorce court.
Anyway, it was a good show. They threw chocolate bunnies at the audience.
Afterwards, everyone headed to the park and hung out all night. I met a nice French girl called Cat who is the manager of a pub called the Park Crescent. It was cold and she shared her blanket. I painted her nails. She let me and Duncan sleep on her couches. Cat also has two cats. It was great :)
The next day I went home and slept all day.
Yesterday (Monday) Ben (Russell) had his dinner. The Growjar studio is very cool - it's a shared space and overlooks the canal and has a great view of the gerkin. There were lots of extremely interesting people there, mostly artists who are actually making art and assorted computing geeks. I met a guy whose hobby a few years ago was building mechanical dogs. He was trying to emulate their real living patterns - breathing, snoring, scratching, ect. They looked really good too; they were covered in thin rubber coats that stretched and wiggled. He said that he was able to do suspend belief for a split second only - failing was a very hard lesson to learn. Now he works/owns a gallery with a business model - shares of stock for the artists and everything.
I also met Ben's new Sam - she very cute and rides her bike everywhere in dresses and heels. I also met Tessa; she was much taller than I'd expected.
Adam was there. He told me about his drama. Poor guy.
Burning Pub is tonight but I'm not sure if I'll go. I don't want to sit around at home but I'm also a little sick of the making nice all the time. Maybe I'll have a pint with Ben or Dave Merwin.
I was a little sad yesterday and more than a little mad. It may have been just post-weekend chemical recovery. I am okay today.
